Bird Mix

WILDFLOWERS FOR BIRDS… A mix of wildflowers that is perfect for attracting birds to our gardens to feed on seeds and insects. According to the RSPB, a lack of habitat and food abundance has lead to huge decline (over 50% in the last 45 years) of many common UK garden bird species.

Bird mix wildflower seed tins by Seedball is a simpler and more natural way to grow from seed. A natural and colourful mix of 6 species of wildflower seeds that are designed to attract a wide diversity of UK garden birds and help encourage local populations of pollinators.

Seedball bird mix is designed to feed the birds for you, and is a much more sustainable option to buying bagged bird feed! The mix is designed to boost the food supply of Goldfinches, Blue Tits, Chaffinches, Greenfinshes, Robins and Starlings. Seedball bird mix is perfect for gardeners and being easy to use you don't need any expert knowledge! Transform your garden and empty spaces in to a haven for wildlife.

(see below for plant details).

Each seed ball contains a mini ecosystem, bursting with a variety of wildflower seeds and others that are native to the UK.

The wildflower seeds are mixed with clay, peat-free compost and a smidgen of chili powder, and rolled into a small ball. Each ball is approximately 1 cm in diameter, making them so easy to just scatter. The dried clay acts as a protective casing from common seed predators (such as ants, mice and birds). When sufficient rain permeates the clay, the seeds inside begin to germinate - helped along by the nutrients and minerals contained within the balls. The chili powder continues to deter predators while the seed ball slowly degrades and the seeds sprout.

Each tin contains 20 seed balls, each with approximately 30 bird-friendly wildflower seeds. These make for lovely gardening gifts, butterfly gifts, eco friendly gifts or mother's day gifts. They will work well in window boxes, balcony pots, garden beds and wildlife gardens.

What's inside this mix?
